Scott May is the President of PDP Consulting.  In addition, he is Senior Advisor to the Biotechnology Institute.  Previously, he was Vice President for Programs and Policy at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry.

Prior to joining AACC, May was Vice President for Education programs at the Biotechnology Institute. There he oversaw an initiative that promoted interest in biotechnology education, state by state, at the school system level. He also supervised the Institute’s minority outreach programs, and managed the relationship with BIO and the BIO International Convention.

May was previously Senior Advisor for President George W. Bush’s Mathematics and Science Initiative (MSI) at the US Department of Education. There he managed the initiative and advised senior officials such as Rod Paige, Secretary of Education, and Susan Sclafani, Counselor to the Secretary and Assistant Secretary for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education. MSI worked to expand the research base on how children learn, increase public awareness of the importance of math and science education, and enhance the professional development of teachers.

Prior to that, he was Executive Director of Project 2061 Professional Development Programs of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and director of strategic initiatives and partnerships at the National Science Teachers Association.

May holds an MBA from Texas A&M University, a BA in Economics from Austin College and is fluent in Spanish. He serves on the Presidential Advisory Board of Ana G. Mendez University System, and the Boards of Legacy Direct and DxMA. He is a senior advisor to the International Foundation for Entrepreneurship Science and Technology.
